The Evolution of the Soul

How do our souls evolve? Is it in a straight line? What is the definition of "evolution" in this regard? The problem with defining this is the fact that we don't all start at the same place and we also don't all have the same goals. Some souls are simply visiting our planet out of curiosity, others have been here since the beginning of man, others are here from other galaxies for a specific purpose, others are lost here and keep repeating the cycle of reincarnation with no end in sight, while others are here to cause havoc and destruction simply because that's what they enjoy.

Thus, it's impossible to define this in an exact manner. When this term is used in spiritual texts, it is generally meant to describe those who are seeking a higher reality or a more enlightened state of being. People who are interested in this often want to feel purposeful, they want to connect to a higher power and they want to feel at peace. This is a common spiritual direction for many, but that still doesn't mean those who fall into that category evolve in a similar fashion. We are all very unique with different backgrounds, both soulful and biological, thus, it's simply not possible to create a one-size-fits-all definition.

If you are interested in the evolution in the soul then it's important to become aware of how unique everyone is and how we all have different abilities, interests and ways of perceiving the world around us. Our destinies are truly up to each of us and the only "end goal" is the one that makes us the happiest. For some this means feeling closer to "God", for others it's enjoying the darkness. There is no "right" or "wrong" way to evolve nor is there a straight line or path. The only path that exists is the one you feel the most connected to and that can easily change over time. Above all, enjoy yourselves and don't compare yourselves with others--we are all unique and on our own paths.
